If you have enough tail you can get the same mechanical advantage by using the above method with just two extra biners and save buying pulleys and rope. I have even used the same anchor sling in the past.

You will get less friction in your system with pulleys though.

If I had a photo I would demonstrate.

I used the pulleys and it was a lot easier than using that other method you suggested (which I have used before!)

I got the pulleys for £10 using my staff discount at work, so not too bad! Problem is the lines I'm setting up are getting a bit long for a primitive set up, now what do I do?!

I know what you mean, when going for length I have out grown my line too.

My new tactic is to use one line (the longest) at its full length as the walk-able section and rig my other line (the short one) as the whole pulley system. It works fairly well and uses all the gear I have. (had to use the extra mechanical advantage method)

The next plan is to use a friends line also and try having a pulley system at each end. (one line as the full walk-able length and then a line used as the pulley system at each end)

If that doesn't work I think I might have to invest in the gear for a real rope and pulley tension system.

How long is your walkable line?

The line is around 25m (we have only rigged it at around 20m due to tree spacing at the moment)

Might have another go this evening

Ah, mine is 40m! I think I'll need to get a different pulley system, uh ohh.

Tonights line:

That was rigged with the extra mechanical advantage method and took three guys to tension it. Good luck with your 40m line!

I can see myself needing to spend some more money to walk anything much longer Sad

My line is quite bouncy, so if your line is a bit more static you might be alright.

Let us know how you get on.
